Monkfish Advisory Panel January Meeting

This meeting will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 9 a.m.

New England Council to Meet

The New England Fishery Management Council (Council) will hold a three-day meeting on November 13-15, 2012 to consider actions affecting New England fisheries in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, November 13-15, starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, and at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

NMFS Sends Notice of Overfishing in Gulf of Maine

Notification of determination of overfishing and approaching an overfished condition as well as inadequate progress in rebuilding

This action serves as a notice that NMFS, on behalf of the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary), has determined that the Gulf of Maine (GOM) stock of haddock is subject to overfishing and is approaching an overfished condition. In addition, the rebuilding plans for American plaice and the Southern New England/Mid-Atlantic (SNE/MA) stock of winter flounder were found to have not resulted in adequate progress toward rebuilding the affected fish stocks.

New England Council Adds Agenda Item

 

The New England Fishery Management Council announced they will discuss the approval of alternatives to be included in the Standardized Bycatch Reporting Methodology (SBRM) Amendment on Thursday, September 27, 2012, just prior to adjournment.
